Beverly Grace Holiday Nygreen
Beverly Grace Holiday Nygreen of Scarsdale died at the White Plains
Hospital on October 15, 2003, after a battle with cancer and
opportunistic infections.
She was born in Bellingham, Washington, May 21, 1918, the daughter of
Joy A. Holiday and S. May Paulson Holiday. She was graduated as
valedictorian of her class at Whatcom High School, Bellingham. She
attended Western Washington University where she served as an elected
officer of the student government. She earned her baccalaureate degree
from the University of Washington in 1940, where she was a member of
Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. In a 35-year professional career as an early
childhood and elementary school specialist she taught in Whatcom County
and Seattle; Houston; Washington, D.C.; San Francisco; Kent, Ohio; and
Tarrytown, New York. |

She married Dr. Glen T. Nygreen at Seattle, Washington, on June 15, 1940
and with him shared more than 63 years of happy and productive life.
Beverly was an active member of the Scarsdale Congregational Church. She
served as President of the SCC Guild and in other capacities. Her concerns
for meeting the needs of others led her to make community outreach the focus
of her involvements. She held high standards for herself and communicated
these to others with smiles and genuine concerns for their welfare and
interests. She was a community builder.
Beverly is survived by her husband Glen, a son Dr. Ted Nygreen,
(Glen Theodore, Jr.) and daughter-in-law Dr. Nancy Miller Nygreen of White
Plains, and three granddaughters, Kristin (Mrs. Patrick Butler) of
Manhattan, Kysa of Berkeley, and Kathryn of Boston.
A memorial service is planned for 12:00 PM Friday, October 31, 2003, at the
Scarsdale Congregational Church. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name
may be made to the Scarsdale Congregational Church, 1 Heathcote Road,
Scarsdale 10583.
