Moguls & Dumplings

Photos from recent ski trips of the eclectic group known as the Moguls and Dumplings. Each photo album contains many thumbnails of the group trip photos. As usual, double-clicking on any thumbnail will download the full (larger) photo into a second window or tab.

2016: TELLURIDE
The Lafayette Ski and Snowboard Club went to Telluride January 13-19, 2016.  Nancy and I joined the LSSC and participated in the trip. Dan and Linda Stowell are also members of LSSC, so it felt a little bit familiar as the old Aspen group...

We shared a condo with John and Gail Copeland, Dan Stowell, and David Dull (great roommates).

Next, here is the Psalm that Cindy Stowell wrote (?) or at least spoke to us in 2003 and 2004:

A Non-Denominational Psalm to Skiing (Psalm 151)

Blessed are the mountains, for their splendor inspires, their groomed slopes amuse, and their gullies and steeps challenge.

Blessed are the lift operators, for they shall raise up humanity to a higher level.

Blessed are all those who ski on the snow, who obeyeth the safety rules, who stoppeth on the right side of the run, who drinketh the wine in moderation, for they shall have fine memories to keep for years to come.

Blessed are the instructors – who coach and critique and persevere, against all odds, to help lesser mortals attain perfection.

In you, Oh instructor, I put my trust, may you never abandon me in my imperfection, but deliver me into perfectly carved turns.

Blessed is he (or she) who tumbleth over a mogul and who gets up laughing – for his (or her) sin shall be forgiven, and he (or she) will be given another mogul to practice on.

Blessed are all the Lito students who ski not in the ways of the beginner, nor suffer old equipment, nor fall from the lift but who shall delight in shaped skis and the law of the phantom turn for they shall delight in the gifts of snow, sun and scenery – and they deserveth a lovely soak in a hot tub and another glass of wine.
